Two Burg Lots Sell, Including Long-Stalled 53 B’way
Two Williamsburg lots recently sold, according to public records. The first is 53 Broadway, where plans for a seven-story building were filed by developers Kaish & Taub in 2008. Some construction began after delays, but the development never came to fruition. The lot last sold in 2005 for $6.9 million, while this time around it brought in $9.9 million. The second sale happened further north, at 237-243 North 9th Street and 261 North 9th Street, both between Roebling and Union. A firm paid $49 million for 237-243 North 9th and $3.1 million for 261 North 9th. There were plans to construct a six-story building on the site, although the property racked up a hefty number of building violations along the way. The developers were reportedly under foreclosure pressure.
